LEAP Project Launch

Greater Fleurieu businesses–reducing food waste

Business Victor Harbor’s successfulStage 1 LEAP program supported 5 Fleurieu regional businesses to identify andimplement better practices insustainability and circular economy. Over the next 10 months, Green IndustriesSA is continuing to fund Stage 2 of the LEAP program- a collaborativesustainability project, managed by Business Victor Harbor (chamberof commerce) to deliver a specialised mentoringand coaching program focused on food waste reductionand better practice methodologies in food waste management for 3 regional basedbusinesses from across the Greater Fleurieu.

ColinShearing, Executive Officer Business Victor Harbor says “Business Victor Harborhas been delighted with the success of Stage 1 and is now excited to continuewith Rawtec, one of Australia’s leading consultancies working in the circulareconomy, in delivering Stage 2 of a collaborative project that targetslocal businesses food waste spaceover the next 10 months”“Greater Fleurieupaddock-to-plate businesses are proud to promote and showcase theirlocal products as partof the State’s best food regions.”

“The region’sbusiness community takes plate-waste and food spoilageseriously and is seeking best practicestrategies to reduce the amount of food wasted and the amount of food ending upin kerbside waste. “

“Thisproject forms part of BVH’s 2024-2027 Strategic Plan and will lead toincreasing the business community’s better understanding of ‘going circular’ as there appears to be a varied local business operatorresponse in regards to food waste management and thelocal economic impacts.”
